Summary:
Goldschmitt is seeking a Senior System Engineer with strong Java skills to support Wounded in Action (WIA), a web-based DFAS system used to track updates to military pay accounts for soldiers who have been wounded in action. The role involves end-to-end system lifecycle support—design, coding, testing, deployment—and coordination with a variety of data feeds and medical systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform full lifecycle engineering: requirements gathering, system design, development, testing, and deployment of Java-based applications.
- Integrate the WIA system with external interfaces (medical and personnel systems), ensuring data is transferred securely and accurately.
- Develop and maintain Oracle database components (PL/SQL) and scripts to manage data loads, transformations, and validations.
- Troubleshoot production issues, provide on-call support, and resolve system incidents.
- Adhere to DoD security policies; participate in risk assessments, STIG compliance, and IA vulnerability mitigation.
- Document processes, configurations, and code changes; contribute to knowledge transfer and system training as needed.
- Familiarity with Agile development processes, collaborative tools (Git, Jira), and continuous integration.
- Experience with security controls, scanning, and STIG remediation in a DoD environment is a plus.
- Skilled in analyzing complex data flows, troubleshooting integration issues, and ensuring data integrity.
- Excellent communication skills; able to coordinate among multiple stakeholders and user groups.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of Java software engineering experience, including web-based Java frameworks.
- Possess hands-on experience working with Oracle databases and PL/SQL.
- Possess US citizenship as well as the ability to obtain a favorable Tier 3 (Noncritical-Sensitive) background investigation
- Ability to effectively telework and collaborate with remote teams; occasional off-hours support for system updates may be required.
