Summary:
Goldschmitt is seeking a Senior Software Engineer experienced in Java web applications to support the DISA Automated Time Attendance and Production System (DATAAPS), a key DFAS-managed system for civilian time and attendance data. This position focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining a large-scale, Oracle-backed Java environment, ensuring the system meets DFAS standards for performance, security, and reliability.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Java/J2EE applications, including writing new features, troubleshooting, and enhancements.
- Work with Oracle databases, PL/SQL, and WebLogic application servers to ensure smooth data flows and system performance.
- Provide production support: troubleshoot issues, analyze logs, resolve software defects, and handle escalations from the helpdesk.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily scrums, retrospectives) and adhere to DFAS software lifecycle processes.
- Create and maintain technical documentation (design specifications, test plans, release notes).
- Ensure code is compliant with security standards, RMF, STIG requirements, and 508 accessibility guidelines.
- Familiarity with HTML/XHTML, CSS, and related web technologies.
- Knowledge of Agile SDLC, version control (Git or Subversion), and continuous integration/deployment practices.
- Experience working in a DoD or federal environment is a major plus.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, including analyzing performance issues and implementing secure coding practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of hands-on Java development experience in an enterprise setting (JEE, Servlets, JSP, etc.).
- Possess proficiency with Oracle database technologies and PL/SQL.
- Possess US citizenship as well as the ability to obtain a favorable Tier 3 (Noncritical-Sensitive) background investigation
- Must be comfortable working in a remote team environment and participating in after-hours support as needed.
